I am so loving this long three day weekend! I vote that we need to switch to 4 day school weeks. I mean seriously, I would not mind a few extra hours with the kiddos each day just to have an extra day off each week! Now that is a presidential campaign that I can get behind :)
We have been spending this long weekend down in south Alabama with the hubs getting ready for his graduation from flight school! I could not be more prouder of him! And after two long years of living two states apart, we are finally about to be one big happy family under the same roof again!!!
But anyways, last week at school was the start to our Arctic Animals unit. One of my favorite units to teach. Sadly, I was not in the room much to teach it though since this was assessment week and we had subs. But I was able to sneak in for a few fun lessons and to snap a couple of quick pictures.
We started off the week with Walruses! We read a few informational books about walruses. Then we cut and glued a sentence about a walrus. We also made this adorable walrus craft from Deanna Jump.
Up next was Polar Bears! We are loving Tara's and Deanna and DeeDee's guided reading units! The craft was from Tara's KinderLiteracy and the writing was from Deanna and DeeDee's Guided Readers.
"Polar Bears are a family and they can hunt together"
This coming up week I will be in Alabama for hubby's graduation, ball, family day, and all of the other fun stuff that comes along with this big event. That means there will be a sub in my room for the entire week! Can you say I'm more than a bit nervous. I know they will survive but I still worry that maybe I forgot to leave something. Anyone else ever feel like this? Here is what they will be up to this week. It's all thing MLK. Click below to grab a copy of the plans.
They will also be working on a new Flippy Flap. Click below to check it out!
Now head on over to DeeDee's blog to see what others are up to this week!
