That long awaited week that every teacher waits for once Christmas break is over is finally here! The weather is slowly warming up and my grass looks like it needs to be cut any day now and that can only mean one thing....
But before I get to my
relaxing, peaceful, quiet, productive week, let's catch up on this past crazy week before spring break with a countdown to Spring Break Style.
We dove into all things eggs and oviparous this week. They love using big words. I always tell them that they are first grade words and it makes them so excited. They used oviparous as many times as they could last week. During Daily 5, we practiced spelling CVC and CCVC words and putting sentences in the correct order from Caitlin Clabby.
We also made the cutest little chicks! First we watched a video about the life cycle then we made these little chicks inspired by Cara Carrol and added the life cycle to his belly. This will be added to our hallway display that I will be working on over the break. Pictures will come!
One of my favorite Easter books is The Best Easter Eggs Ever! Three little bunnies try to help the Easter Bunny by decorating an egg to see which egg is the best and chosen for Easter. The kids then decorated an egg and wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny telling him why he should choose our egg. If you missed the freebie last week click here to go back to the post and get your freebie writing paper.
"You should pick my egg because it is the best and beautiful."
"You will love my egg. I know it because it is pretty."
"I think you should pick my egg because it has you on it."
"You should pick my egg because it is pretty."
To end our week and get ready for Spring Break, we had our annual Kindergarten
Egg Candy Hunt. It's very simple, no eggs involved, just candy scattered across the lawn and 100+ kids fighting, pushing, shoving, finding the candy. So much chaos but so fun!
We then ended our day with a little Easter party complete with these adorable cupcakes!
And now it is officially Spring Break!!!! I have a huge list of things I want to accomplish but I know that I probably will only get maybe half of it done if I am lucky.
Now I am off to take my not so little girl to the movies! Head on over to DeeDee's blog to see what others are up to this week!
